Here is a cute outfit that I plan on wearing around town at the beach!
Okay, so I am by no means an expert when it comes to packing and traveling, but over the years I have come across a few good tips and tricks that I find super helpful when heading out on vacation. I figured that now, as we are preparing for vacation, it would be a perfect time to share with you what I have learned.
Planning in advance is key. As soon as we confirm our vacation plans, its time to start preparing. I begin by finding a place in the house, whether it be a guest bedroom or empty closet, where I start storing vacation essentials. By doing this, there is no last minute scramble to find items I have purchased or want to bring on the trip.
Packing
The key to packing is compartmentalizing the travel items. I use packing cubes for this! I also like to roll my clothes to keep them from wrinkling and save space in the packing cubes. The next item I love is a hanging jewelry organizer. I actually use this every single day at home to organize my jewelry, and when I am ready to head out on vacation all my jewelry can be folded up quickly and put in my suitcase.
Another important item that I bring on any trip is my hanging toiletry bag. I actually have a Vera Bradley bag, but thought this one from Amazon was super cute! This is perfect for putting all your toiletries in one place and with plastic pockets it is a lifesaver when there are spills. Another helpful tip is to grab spill proof plastic travel bottles that you can put shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in. This will save you money and time because you will not have to buy travel sized hair products and instead can just use what you already have at a fraction of the cost!
One last thing before you hit the road! Make sure you pack a travel sized steamer. I use this one every single day at home and it fits perfectly in a suitcase as well. This is a lifesaver when traveling and removes wrinkles in no time.
On the Road
I am absolutely loving these portable phone/usb charger we own. On so many occasions, my phone or the kids’ tablets run out of power and this comes to the rescue every time. It charges quickly and lasts a very long time. This is a must!
Hitting the Beach
There is nothing worse than a sandy towel! This awesome sand proof blanket is perfect if you have small children you are trying to keep sand away from or if you just don’t want to be uncomfortable! It is also fast drying and compact, which is also a bonus!
One item I am so excited to try is the BEACHBUB umbrella system. I have heard nothing but great things about this. It is easy to carry and guaranteed to not fly away. It has 50+ UPF as well.
Speaking of sun protection, something a lot of people forget is protecting their lips. You can never go wrong with ChapStick sun defense. Also, one of my go-to products is COOLA Mineral Face Matte Moisturizer SPF 30. It protects your face from the sun, blurs imperfections and smells like cucumbers, what better way to protect your face!
When it is finally time to go, I always make sure to throw wet bathing suits and coverups into this Damero Travel Wet and Dry Bag. This is super convenient and keeps wet items concealed.
I hope you found these tips and tricks helpful! I can’t wait to share with y’all our adventures at WaterColor this upcoming week! Stay tuned for updates on our trip!
Also, check back in on Saturday morning for the next phase of our home renovation journey featuring our dining room!
